Question
Switch is taking a lot of CPU, is there something I can do?

Symptoms
Whenever I start my flow, Switch will take a lot of CPU.

Solution
If you have a lot of folders connected to network drives, you can notice your Switch UI will take a lot of CPU  checking and updating the UI.
Here are a couple of suggestions on how to decrease the CPU value:
  • General preferences > Processing > "Scan input folders" and "Scan intermediate folders" , increase these values
If it takes 1 second to check the content of 1 network folder and you have like 250 folders then it will already take 250 seconds only doing this so during that time Switch cannot do other tasks.
  • Do not show these flows in the canvas when not needed.
Switch will only update the amount of files in the folders shown in the canvas so select another flow (e.g. an empty flow) to avoid unnecessary network traffic.
  • Make sure that you have not a file or folder on another disk selected in the file or folder pane.
Here too, Switch will provide you with the most up to date information and will collect that information over the network - which will take time and resources.
