Background

Global Graphics (www.globalgraphics.com) has released a simple-to-use, free-of-charge overprint control strip for checking that proofs and prints, made from files transmitted as PDF/X, have rendered correctly.

The Ghent PDF Workgroup advises to use the simple-to-use, free-of-charge overprint control strip that was created by Global Graphics.

This control strip is used to ensure that proofs and prints, made from files transmitted as PDF/X, have rendered correctly.

Solution

It is possible to create an Action List that adds the Global Graphics overprint control strip to a PDF file in any Enfocus application.

  • If the document has no art box but it has a bleed box, the strip will be placed outside of the bleed box.
  • Else, if the document has no art box but it has a trim box, the strip will be placed outside of the trim box.
  • In all other cases the document will not be modified and an error message will be put in the report.

For further help on how to use an Action List in your application, refer to the manual. It might be handy to know you'll need the 'Add copied graphics' action to grab the control strips.

If you would like to download the Global Graphics control strips to use them in your Action List, you can find them here.
