Solution TitleHow to Reset PDF Review Server Administrator Credentials
Solution Number00000768
Solution Details
Symptoms
I cannot log-in to the PDF Review Module Server because my credentials are not working and the "Forgot your password?" link is not sending me a recovery message.

Background
As with any account, it's possible that a user simply forgot their credentials and wants to recover this information.  In order for the "Forgot your password?" link to work when trying to access the PDF Review Module Server URL, the "Mail Settings" and "User Settings (Email address)" categories of the Administration configuration would need to have been correctly filled-out, successfully sending a Test Mail message from the "Mail Settings" page.

In some cases, both the user credentials are misplaced and the Administrator settings were not configured or incorrectly configured, so a password recovery message is not possible, and so the solution below is necessary.

Solution
  • From the Task Manager > Services > click the "Services" button > Stop the "Enfocus PDF Review Server" Windows Service
  • Remove the following file: C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\Enfocus Prefs Folder\PDF Review Module\Settings.db
  • Start the "Enfocus PDF Review Server" Windows Service
  • Open the PDF Review Server Administrator page: http://localhost:8080/admin
  • Fill in all the settings, including username and password
  • Check and confirm the Mail Settings in the event the credentials need to be retrieved again in the future
